Doing business and barriers

Central African Republic’s electrification rate is 26%, with power capacity far below demand. The country does not have a clear policy on interconnection. The power fleet needs modernization due to age and lack of maintenance, and the government is currently working on that through the World Bank. While it is legally possible to set up self-consumption facilities, this is not really happening yet due to the security situation, and lack of funds. Currently, companies are trying to institute pay-as-you-go or PAYG in the country.
